They say practice makes perfect. I’m not sure perfect is necessarily what I strive for in my photography. I believe it’s the connection to the moment that makes an image special more than technical accuracy. That’s just one of many personal discoveries that came from 2015’s Project 52. The growth in my photography journey was priceless. I highly recommend a project 52 (or 365) to all my fellow photogs. The things I learned from picking up my camera nearly every day, was ten fold what I could have gathered from reading photography books and articles alone. In addition to gaining confidence in my craft, I also have a year’s worth of memories of my fast growing boys. What’s not to love about that!
I’m excited to continue sharing my personal work on the blog, but I’ve decided to slow things down a little this year. I have coined this year’s project January to December. I will choose a theme to write about and share my favorite images at the end of each month. Don’t get me wrong, I will probably still reach for my camera daily. However, with this structure, I won’t be tied to the computer screen weekly – leaving me more time to be in the moment with my family (and taking pictures of them).
I’m looking forward to sharing my January edition next week, so be ready to grab a cup of coffee – or hot chocolate like my little guy – and enjoy!
