Spring is officially here! Vernal Equinox was yesterday, March 20th. The dark days of winter are finally behind us and the bright days of summer lay ahead. We have been outdoors soaking up every once of daylight (we start to think about heading in only after my camera starts to have trouble focusing because of lack of light). We are already dreaming of camping and chasing fireflies.

With spring comes Spring Break, so we headed back to our home town to spend time with family. Technically, Charlie didn’t have the week off school, but being that he’s in preschool we decided to take advantage of an opportunity to spend a few days with family while the cousins were on break. There are 6 cousins on the Harmon side and they are close to say the least. They are best friends, and the memories they make together now they will carry with them the rest of their lives. I can’t help but think of my own cousins and happy moments from our childhood while watching the kids play together.

I know too many people that have trouble getting along with their relatives. I consider myself insanely lucky to not only get along with my family, but to absolutely adore my in-laws as well. I feel perfectly “at home” whenever and wherever I’m with them. I think I might have been more excited than my boys to see everyone this week – if that’s even possible. It’s a blessing my children get to grow up surrounded by so much love, and I’m thankful for it everyday.

Our days were filled with food, drinks, and laughter – and much needed adult socializing. We’re all a little tired when it’s time to say goodbye, but it’s totally worth the exhaustion. It’s funny how I never get enough sleep when I’m back home, but I always leave with my soul feeling refreshed. I love my people.

There’s nothing technically impressive about this last shot, but it captures everything wonderful about this group of kids. I obviously love artsy, lifestyle shots of children, however sometimes it’s the snapshots that will be treasured the most in years to come. Never underestimate the power of the family snapshot.
