Happy Birthday America! Thanks to the brave men and women who fight for our freedom, we celebrated another year of being one of the greatest countries in the world to raise your family and pursue your dreams. No better way to celebrate than fireworks. There’s something magical about exploding colors in the sky. There’s also magic in watching the flames dance while enjoying good company around a fire pit and drawing in the air with the beautiful glow of a sparkler. Last year I had so much fun photographing the fireworks display, and I had every intention to do it again this year. But then, after some sparkler fun with my boys and seeing the excitement in their faces as the first fireworks lit up the sky above us, I changed my mind. The real magic for me was in the moment, and there was no way I could have caught that with my camera (unless I had someone else taking pictures for me. Note to self – hire a 4th of July photographer next year). I just had to sit with my boys, watch their smiles, and get lost in the “oohs and ahhs”. As Will and Charlie would say, “Best day ever!”

My little firecracker will be three on Friday. Fireworks, a giant cookie, and dinosaurs were the perfect way to celebrate with the family. I love that boy! Here’s some moments from his birthday bash.
